WHAT ROOTED US THEN, SUSTAINS US NOW.
For generations, Washington’s winemakers have cared for the land,
the people who tend it, and the communities that thrive because of it.
SUSTAINABLE WA is the next step in that commitment—a rigorous, science-based certification that ensures Washington wines are grown responsibly, with respect for the environment and the people behind every bottle.

Cultivating care for
a land like no other.
Choosing a Sustainable WA certified wine means supporting vineyards that farm responsibly, conserve natural resources, and ensure fair working conditions—all while crafting exceptional Washington wines. More than a certification, sustainability is a promise to future generations, with winemakers committed to preserving the land and producing wines with care.

FOR GROWERS
LEARN HOW TO
BECOME CERTIFIED
The Sustainable WA certification process starts with a simple application, due by the end of April for first-time and returning participants. This ensures growers complete their self-assessments before scheduling an audit. After submitting your initial application, you’ll update your profile each year to reflect any changes in acreage, vineyard blocks, or audit scope. Once your application is reviewed and confirmed by the Program Administrator—and all fees are paid—you’ll be ready to begin the self-assessment process.
